Zendaya’s press tours for Challengers and Dune: Part Two may be over, but she’s not hanging up method dressing any time soon.
Last night, the Emmy-winning actor dressed like the leading lady of a Shakespearean love story to support boyfriend Tom Holland’s production of Romeo and Juliet in London. The two were photographed exiting the Duke of York’s Theatre hand in hand, Zendaya clad in magnificent black ball gown straight from Vivienne Westwood’s Spring 2023 runway.
The romantic piece features a corseted lace-up bodice and puffy mid-length sleeves. Specks of gleaming crystals dotted the dress all over, making the deep-black material look like a starry midnight sky.
Zendaya styled the look with a multi-strand choker and pendant necklace made out of tiny red and gold beads, as well as a pair of heeled black leather boots.
Holland coordinated in his own all-black outfit, opting for a lightweight long-sleeved Prada shirt that he tucked into pleated black slacks.
Zendaya is known for embracing “method dressing,” an approach that involves emulating the characters, themes, and world of the various roles she’s played over the years. This has included Mugler robot armor for Dune, Thom Browne tennis whites for Challengers, and a webbed Valentino gown for Spider-Man.
Of working with her longtime stylist, Law Roach, Zendaya told Elle in an interview last year: “He’s involved in every fashion contract, everything I do. If I have an opportunity where he can come with me, he’s always going to be there. He’s always been my creative director in a sense, and he continues to fill that role, because it’s more than just clothes on a red carpet. It’s a bigger thing.”
