Karol G Covers Accept Her Woman of the Year Award

Karol G covered herself in crystals for her big red carpet return.

Days after she survived a scary incident on her private jet, the Colombian reggaeton singer made her way to California to attend the Billboard Women In Music awards, where she is being honored for her contributions to music.

Karol G walked the blue carpet ahead of the ceremony in a see-through silver gown from Zuhair Murad’s Spring/Summer 2024 Couture collection. The dress featured a dramatic halter neck lined with shimmering crystals that doubled as a necklace, as well as a plunging neckline that fell in delicate layers to her waist. The rest of the dress was also covered in scattered white crystals and small beads, but Karol G didn’t stop there with the shimmer; for shoes, she added a pair of silver glitter platforms, and for jewelry, she put on some diamond rings.

The singer wore the statement gown only with glowy makeup, a glazed manicure, and a messy ponytail.

Karol G is Billboard’s Woman of the Year this 2024. And, she is one of three honorees (the others being Victoria Monét and Kylie Minogue) who also won big at the 66th annual Grammy Awards in February. The star made history when she became the first woman to take home the Grammy for best música urbana album for Mañana Será Bonito. The album also pushed her to the top of the Billboard 200 for the first time ever, in 2023.

“I’m super happy,” Karol G told Billboard at the event. “It’s the most significant award or recognition that I can get in my life. I always fight a lot being a woman in this industry, and to have Woman of the Year is kind of crazy; it’s a lot of responsibility but it’s… I don’t know, Im super proud of my team, of my family, of the people that trusted me, of the women that worked so much.”
