After a short trip to Canada with husband Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan is back home—and exuding California cool.
The Duchess of Sussex recently headed to Cipriani Beverly Hills to grab lunch with Clare Waight Keller, former artistic director of Givenchy and designer of the royal’s 2018 wedding dress. The two women have maintained a close relationship in the years since, with Waight Keller having described their dynamic as “this very personal girlfriend relationship.”
For their meet-up, Meghan’s signature minimalist and polished style got a luxurious refresh, thanks to a slate of designer wardrobe staples. These included a pair of wide-leg satin black crepe pants from Ulla Johnson, which featured a flattering high-rise silhouette and a belted waist. She tucked a loose black turtleneck from Bleusalt into the pants, then layered with Max Mara’s cashmere cardigan coat in a rich shade of caramel. To coordinate with her streamlined outerwear, she carried a matching suede clutch from Cesta Collective under one arm. She finished off the look with black Givenchy sunglasses and her go-to Aquazzura flats.

Waight Keller talked to Harper’s Bazaar in 2018 about the “historic moment” she had working with Meghan to bring the duchess’s bridal vision to life.
“[Meghan] was really focused, as I was, on it being absolutely perfect for the occasion. And also knowing what the House of Givenchy has done in its history, I think it was a collaboration that came through that,” the British designer said. “We exchanged conversations about what would be the ultimate lines and proportions and the scale of the dress, but over time we got to a point where I [knew] she knew exactly what she wanted, having tried some of the toiles and mock-ups that I had shown her. And then it evolved into the final design.”
The result was a sleek ivory gown with an open boat neckline, three-quarter-length sleeves, and a train that trailed underneath an embroidered cathedral veil.
