If you haven’t started watching Grey’s Anatomy yet, and you’re into the idea of having a single show that will take you through 2040, you’re in luck. All seasons (including the latest 20th season, which has new episodes coming out well into this year) are streaming on Hulu. This show is Shonda Rhimes’s brainchild, and it’s the longest running medical drama in the history of television, which practically makes it required viewing. They should show it in the schools.

Fancy a British import? Comedian Kat Sadler writes and stars in the dark and occasionally cringe (on purpose) Such Brave Girls. Deb (Louise Brealey) and her daughters Josie (Sadler) and Billie (Lizzie Davidson) are all on their own after the girls’ father leaves. Sadler and Davidson are sisters in real life, which makes all their gross-out humor and breezy jokes about mental health somehow more heartfelt.

Moonlighting

Moonlighting was one of those rare ’80s classics that never found its way to streaming—until 2024. It’s zany, it’s madcap, it’s technically a detective show, and it made a household name out of Bruce Willis, not as an action star, but as a comedian. Now, 40 years later, audiences can discover the experimental sitcom for the first time, and those who caught it the first time around can bask in nostalgia.

Faraway Downs

An experiment on the part of director Baz Luhrmann, Faraway Downs is the 2008 film Australia reworked into a miniseries and released on Hulu last year. It even uses footage that had been left on the original film’s cutting room floor. You must judge for yourself how successful the experiment is, but what’s absolutely certain is that Nicole Kidman, who plays the posh English aristocrat, Sarah, and Hugh Jackman, the rugged cattle drover that helps her save her farm in the Australian Outback, look incredible in their 1930s costuming.
