All About Jennie’s Debut Solo Studio Album

There’s no need to introduce you to Jennie—Blackpink member, The Idol star, and the object of millions of worldwide fans’s adoration—but allow her to reintroduce herself to you anyway.

Fans can expect to see a whole new side to the pop star as she gears up to release new music, marking her first foray into a solo career since she and fellow Blackpink members Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé were catapulted into super stardom since their 2016 group debut.

While she has yet to confirm a title for her first solo album, she did tease details about the project during an interview for Harper’s Bazaar‘s October 2024 cover story, revealing that she has been working tirelessly in the studio “cutting, cutting, cutting” vocals from “morning to night.” She also described the record as way of “bringing myself to the world for the first time.”

Below, we compiled everything we know so far about Jennie’s solo album, from the message she hopes fans glean from it to the record label she’ll be releasing it under.

She wants fans to “experience this new side” to her.

Jennie’s highly-anticipated record will explore parts of the singer that fans may not be familiar with. As she continues to grow and evolve as an artist, her solo music will undoubtedly reflect that, too.

“You should be you. It might not seem as glamorous as who you were,” she explained to Bazaar. “Blackpink Jennie will always be a part of me, but you will also get to experience this new side.”

Still, she wants to make sure her fans know that she’s grateful for her musical roots. “I don’t want to lose their trust,” Jennie added. “It is so important for me to have my culture, and everyone around the world, love me.”

Her forthcoming solo music will also have a clear message for other young women, with Jennie wanting those listeners to feel inspired “to understand and stick [up] for who you are.”

She will release the project through her own label.

Jennie confirmed to Bazaar that her debut solo album will drop through OA, the music label she launched in November 2023. A post previously shared on the company’s Instagram account described their mission:“ OA, which stands for ODD ATELIER, is a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected.”

It’s unknown if famed K-pop producer Teddy Park will officially participate on the project, but Jennie is still relying on her friend for advice. “If there is anyone in the world that I ask for any music advice, it would be Teddy,” she said.

The album will feature multiple genres.

During her interview with Bazaar, Jennie noted that the project will span a range of genres, though she refrained from specifying what musical styles listeners can expect to hear. She also confirmed that the album’s songs will be recorded primarily in English.
